Post subject: | Published pattern established - Breadcrumbs not displayed |
Lyubomir -- I now have a published pattern based on 2 built-in items: Home Page and Current Article. My problem is that no breadcrumbs are visible on my site. Is there something else that I have to do? I've tried Strict vs. Not-strict, and left all the other settings at their default values. I've also unpublished the standard breadcrumbs module that comes with Joomla. My expectation was that no additional items would have to be created at this early stage (since I've already specified the built-in items). Let me know. Thanks, Steve Kobb |

Hi Steve, To be able to see the breadcrumbs on your site you must use a breadcrumbs module. You can use the Joomla core breadcrumbs module if you like. If you have installed Breadcrumbs Manager, the core module will display breadcrumbs according to what you have defined in Breadcrumbs Manager. All you need is to have at least one published global pattern (do not use strict patterns unless you are sure you need them). Other users have also asked the same question, so I will try to better explain it here: In Joomla there is a built-in "system" for breadcrumbs. To display the breadcrumbs, the core Joomla module asks this "system" what breadcrumbs are currently present. Our product changes the breadcrumbs in this "system" so when the module asks - the breadcrumbs that our products set are returned to it. This is why our product should work for almost all breadcrumbs modules available - because the changes our product makes are in the place where it all begins. This is why there is no breadcrumbs module included with Breadcrumbs Manager - you can use the module that suits you best, as long as it uses the standard breadcrumbs functionality. I hope this answers your question. If you need further assistance I will be happy to help. |
